The Feldwebel and WW1 tanker has the bar for the EK2, so he got his first EK2 in WW1. The EK1 could be both, it's hard to say. Not necessarily tank commanders. Let's say 'crew members', could be gunner and radio operator as far as we can say.
With the thought that this is France and 1940, the two NCOs with EK1s as crew members this early in the war would seem unusual to me. The officer seems relaxed with them as well which would in my mind suggest they are tank commanders rather than mere tank crew . I could be easily be wrong. My knowledge base is more in the Great War. It's a rare and exciting photo regardless.
Is his EK1 from WW2? I assume he and the other NCO are tank commanders based on their both being decorated so early in the war.
